With the Iowa City Council set for their first vote Tuesday on an ordinance that would raise the bar admittance age from 19 to 21, Police Chief Sam Hargadine said Thursday his department is readying for a potential increase in neighborhood parties.

Sgt. Denise Brotherton said instead of having their own break, the Iowa City Police Department simply shifts its focus. 
And with the weather warming up, Brotherton said while most students aren't downtown for the week, activity across the community often increases.

More than 130 supporters stepped up to the plate at the third annual Step Up "Wine and Small Plates" fundraiser at the Dorcy Cancer Center at St Mary-Corwin Medical Center on the evening of Feb. 19. 
Paula Dunn, Jill Swerdfeger, Michele DesLauriers and Sue Takaki co-chaired the event that raised $12,000 to assist the wellness and health programs for Pueblo County low-income children and seniors.

Manual locks mean unlocking doors up to three hours ahead of schedule to unlock them on time, which creates a security concern, said Chuck Green, UI Department of Public Safety director.
